Pat Mitchell's Gallery

Pat Mitchell received her BFA from the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. While raising her family, she kept her hand in the art world working as a manager for a photography studio and as a controller for a Milwaukee art gallery. She began to seriously pursue her work as a mosaic artist after her family was grown.

Pat’s work erupts out of li
fe experience and everyday objects. By breaking down a whole vista or subject into the small part of a mosaic, she recreates and reorders the work according to her artistic vision. She takes those things in life which might be taken for granted and brings them to the forefront to be relished and enjoyed in their new form. In her current work, she explores the revelation and concealing nature of ice in its many permutations.

She has exhibited in juried shows in North Carolina and Ontario, Canada and has been active in the Art Guild of Menomonee Falls where she has her home and studio.

Pat was selected in January 2012 as one of the artists chosen to embellish a regular size Gibson Guitar for the June 2012 Gibson Guitartown Event which will honor legendary guitarist Les Paul in downtown Waukesha. Theme for the event is “The Heart of It All” since Les Paul was born and is buried in Waukesha, WI. Ten 10-foot guitars as well as 25 regular size fully functional guitars will be on display in downtown Waukesha, embellished by selected local artists. Many celebratory events are scheduled for the June festival. Pat will apply her glass mosaic design to the bare wood guitar shell which will then be shipped back to Gibson Guitar for clear coating and application of the functioning portions of the piece. Some of the pieces will remain as public art and others will be auctioned off.

River’s End salutes Pat Mitchell and all the local artists participating in this event. Historic downtown Waukesha will have even more to celebrate with this national recognition and public art installation.
