About the Artist

Shimmering streams wind their way across vivid colors on these sculptural art glass pieces. The metals that support many of these pieces become a sculptural element or a visual pen line to add another layer to the composition.

Karen Ehart draws her inspiration from nature: a pebble-filled stream bed, sea life, microscopic and telescopic images…

Born in the pacific northwest to a family who valued and encouraged artistic expression and craftsmanship, her work reflects more than 36 years of creative experimentation. She enjoys working with glass as well as a variety of materials including bronze, steel and clay.

In 1984 she picked up a glass cutter and was ruined for any real job. She has been quite a rolling stone, moving around through the years to many places including Oregon, Alabama, Hawaii, Arizona, and now, Washington state. She has found much to influence her work in each place.

Along the way she has been fortunate to work with quite a few highly skilled artisans and has continuously experimented with the sculptural possibilities of her work.
